VEHICLE OVERVIEW

A stunning example of this classy and sophisticated Mercedes-Benz icon, with just over 68,000 miles from new.

The car has been fastidiously maintained throughout its life, with a full service history showing no less than 25 stamps in its service book. The paintwork and chrome brightwork are exceptional and the underside, that has been wax oiled regularly, is the cleanest we’ve ever seen, with no signs of corrosion typically expected to be seen on car of this age.

In 2018, the car benefitted from a brand new Mercedes-Benz supplied and fitted soft top, which remains in as new condition. The car also comes with its original matching colour hardtop, also as new and which comes with its own cover and stand.

A beautiful and well cared for car, in a delightful specification.

EXTERIOR

Finished in Arctic White, the paintwork is immaculate, as is all the chrome brightwork, bumper and door rubbers as well as the door handle and grill plastics. The original bulk head, a known problem area for corrosion (generally in cars that are infrequently serviced and/or left to stand in the elements for long period of time), is in perfect order.

In 2018 a brand new soft top was supplied and fitted by Mercedes-Benz, presents as new and with a crystal clear rear screen.

The car comes with a matching hardtop, which shows signs of little use and is in both excellent condition and comes with its own cover and stand.

INTERIOR & EQUIPMENT

The Black Sports Check makes for a refreshing change over the more typical blue and makes for a very attractive and chic monochrome contrast to the Arctic White paintwork. The fabric interior, which is in excellent condition, offers cool seats in the summer and warm in the winter, without the shock of sitting down on burning hot or freezing cold leather! It’s a material that wears well, feels comfortable and is airy over long distances and suits the era perfectly.

The woodwork on the inside of the cabin as well as the chrome work, show no sign of pitting, peeling, cracking or chipping, and most importantly the woodwork still presents as dark and rich, suffering from very little fading.

The original carpets and over mats are also in excellent condition. All instruments and dials are in perfect working order and the car is fitted with a period correct, fully functioning Mercedes Benz Classic stereo radio cassette player.

ENGINE, TRANSMISSION & SUSPENSION

As evidenced by a service history with 25 service stamps, the car has been fastidiously maintained. The 3.0 straight six engine is smooth and torquey. As expected for a car this well maintained, it runs and drives superbly.

The most recent gear box oil service was carried out at 67,278 miles and gearchanges for the 4 speed switchable auto are smooth, with kick-down engaging promptly, as it should.

Suspension componentry front and back is free of any corrosion and provides for an exceptional ride. In addition, with relatively low mileage, the car still drives with the tightness of steering, suspension feel and response of the controls, lost to high mileage cars.

WHEELS, BRAKES & TYRES

The car sits on the 7×15 OEM flat front alloys, all are unmarked including the spare, which looks unused. The tyres are all matching Avon ZV S 205×65 R15s, the correct specification for the car and show only minimal use.

The brakes which are servo assisted discs all round (ventilated at the front) are powerful and operate as they should.

UNDERSIDE

As can be seen from the photos the car has an exceptionally clean underside.

The original underseal is in excellent order and the suspension, brakes and other componentry susceptible to corrosion, have all been protected with a corrosion resistant coating. Finally, the car has also benefitted from regular wax oiling. This all adds up to a car that has outstanding protection from corrosion, typically unavoidable for cars driven on UK roads all year round.
